Hawick Force travelled to Meggetland last Saturday to play their first game of the league season after the Gala A game was called off a week earlier.
Boosted by the inclusion of 1st team players David Lowrie, Matt Landels, Keith McNeil, Bruce Campbell and Dale Johnstone the Force earned a hard fought bonus point win thanks to tries from Ruaridh MacLeod x2, David Cowan, Murray Renwick and the outstanding David Lowrie who could have scored a double had he not let the ball slip from his grasp in the act of scoring with almost the last play of the game.
The only negatives came from yet another yellow card for the Force this time to Shaun Desport taking the teams tally to 4 in 4 games and will need brush up on their discipline moving forward and the interception pass thrown by Lee Martin looked as bad as club Vice President Rory Bannerman who was running the line in his prized Dr Martins
There were many positives to take from the game but none more than the impressive performances from last years U18 league winners Ruaridh MacLeod, Gareth Welsh, Logan Gordon Woolley & Morgan Tait who all showed that they are adapting to senior rugby quickly and could have a massive part to play in the future of Hawick Rugby.
Robbie Linton was named MOTM in yet another standout performance from the youngster.
Coach Dean McCracken said:-
"It was great to get our 1st league win on the road and our boys stuck to the task well. We still have things to work on but overall we are impressed with the boys attitude & commitment and hopefully take the winning mentality on to next weeks match at home to GHA."
