Marr 2XV v Hawick Force
The Force travelled the long road to Troon last Saturday to face Marr who were the only other undefeated side in National Reserve League 2 heading into the game.
The day got off to a bad start with Scrum Half Gary Munro pulling out injured before the bus had left leaving a squad of 21 to make the trip 9but It was the perfect day for running rugby at Fullerton and so it proved with the young Teries coming out on top 27-30 against a Marr side who were boasting the fact they had around 5 players available who each have over 100 appearences for the 1st XV so perhaps they thought they were in for an easy days work.
Try Scorers were Dean McCracken, Murray Renwick & the impressive No.8 Andrew Baillie Dean McCracken added the rest of the points with his boot ending the day with an unblemished 100% record from the tee.
Bruce Campbell was like an army General the way he controlled his forwards and backs and in turn dictated much of what was good about the force. The pack were dominant in the scrum thanks to an great shift from the ever improving Ruaridh MacLeod who has the makings of a future Hawick tighthead.
For the 2nd week in succession the whole squad were excellent and produced their best performance this season while begining to show that they are clicking into top gear and will take some stopping this season. The coaches will be hoping to keep this standard up.
A special mention this week to Gareth Welsh and Lewis Anderson who have both performed well in the 1st XV in the last couple of weeks and are hopefully the first of many Force graduates to make the step up.
