The Greens travelled to Meggetland on Saturday to play Boroughmuir in a basement battle with both teams at the bottom end of the table.
It was the home team that demolished Hawick with a 10 try victory – assisted by some very weak tackling – to leave the Greens still in bottom place with the ninth placed team seven points ahead of them.
There is plenty of endeavour in attack from Hawick but it is the defence that is all over the place and the coaching team will be working overtime to get that sorted with a tough schedule of games on the radar.
The score at half time was 31 18 with Hawick points coming from tries from forwards Bruce McNeil and Craig Hamilton, with Ali Weir landing a conversion and two penalty goals.
That was all the scoring Hawick managed and the city side demolished the visitors in the second half with some excellent rugby which saw them get five valuable points as well retain the Hugh Macmaster Trophy.
