l am delighted to welcome you all to Mansfield Park for our first home fixture since last month’s very exciting victory over Marr.
A particular warm welcome to GHA led by President Stuart Lang with Rangi Jericevich their very impressive Director of Rugby. Also, today the Force entertain Biggar coached by ex-Hawick coach Deekie Armstrong. We lost both these very close games in September so hopefully we can reverse these results today.
Our squad has been strengthened considerably recently by the return of Andrew Mitchell and Ross Graham. It is great to see them back in a green jersey again. Our injury list is also thankfully easing.
Last week it was very encouraging to see Connor Sutherland, Sam Frizzel, Corey Tait and Rudi Brown all start for Edinburgh U20s. I am sure they can all look forward to a bright future.
We are hosting our farmers today, always one of our special days in the season. It is very appropriate that our chief guest is Jill Douglas, with her local farming background, Kenny Spiers well known and popular musician is providing our musical entertainment. We are very much looking forward to what I am sure will be a special event.
During the week one of the real legends of the rugby world Kevin Sinfield ran the 101 miles between Leicester and Leeds in 24 hours raising hundreds of thousands for MND, helping his great pals Rob Burrow and Doddie Weir and many others. We congratulate him on this amazing achievement.
Last weekend we held a reunion for our famous Cup winning team of 25 years ago, a very special night when highlights of the semi-final and final were shown and memories were shared from that memorable day in the Club’s history.
As ever be kind to the match officials and be courteous to those around you.
Enjoy the match
