Hawick Rugby Club are delighted to announce the appointment of John Hogg as our new Director of Rugby. Born and bred in Hawick and honoured to be Cornet in 1983, rugby has played a huge part in his life and continues to do so. From a very young age he was involved with rugby as a ball boy at the PSA and Hawick, progressing to play for Hawick Trades and then over 150 games for the senior Hawick side. He represented South of Scotland in all age groups and at senior level. Following retirement from rugby, and after a short spell in coaching, he went on to a refereeing career for 11 years achieving ‘A’ International level. He is therefore well known in rugby circles both within Hawick and further afield. His son Graham is Hawick’s current Development Officer and son Stuart is captain of the Scottish National side and plays his professional rugby presently with Exeter Chiefs. We welcome the fresh input John will bring to the Club and wish him well in his new role.
The Club are indebted to Garry Douglas for his significant contribution in his term as Director of Rugby and are glad that he still intends to assist the Club in some capacity.
