Prior to Hawick’s two British & Irish Lions heading south to start pre-season training with their respective English Premiership teams (Stuart Hogg with the Exeter Chiefs, and Rory Sutherland with Worcester Warriors), Hawick RFC President Neil Hamilton and Vice President Ian Landles were able to make presentations to them both on behalf of the club.
“To see our two ‘Hawick Lion’s’ standing shoulder to shoulder before winning their Test caps, against the world champions South Africa in Cape Town in July, was an incredibly proud moment for everyone associated with the club and the wider Hawick community”, said Neil.
In recognition of their achievements Stuart and Rory were presented with engraved hip flasks.
President Hamilton stated, ‘It was hoped that we could also honour our Tokyo Olympian Lisa Thomson, (who represented Great Britain in the Rugby 7’s tournament) at the same time, however Lisa is currently on duty in Italy with the Scottish Squad, and we are looking to catch up with her next month, to make a similar presentation from the club.
