The Hawick Force started the season in tremendous style at Mansfield Haugh on Saturday. Combining a youthful swagger in the backs with some old heads in the engine room, the lads look a formidable force already.
Charlie Welsh was a one man scoring machine after he converted his own try to follow up an early penalty goal, though a lot of the praise has to go to Greg Walker who marshalled his young charges well throughout the first half.
The second half saw an adventurous Currie nearly drawing level after breaks and tries were traded often. The Force had wonderful line breaks from young Elliot Stanger and Ben Scott , whilst tremendous tackling and carrying from Nikki Little and young Stitt saw the pack gradually but decisively come out on top.
Strong running tries from Walker, Jack Chelley and Steven Mabon were deserved reward for the Force with Welsh adding the extras for a 29 19 bonus try win .
Men of the match were surely the towering Tom Huggan, 7 stone wet through he was everywhere throughout whilst Cian Riddell played with assured maturity, running the game from stand off.
