Welcome, everyone, to Mansfield Park tonight for our first Border League match of the season against close neighbours Jed-Forest. A particular welcome to president Paul Cranston, Jedforest committee, players and coaches. We have played them twice in the Tennent’s Premiership with both games being hard fought and close encounters and tonight’s game will be no different with a potential Border League final the prize. Tonight, we are pleased to be playing for the ‘Skelly Cup’ presented by the Skelton family. This presentation will take place after the final whistle to the winning captain.
We played very well at Marr last Saturday and on another day the result could have gone our way. We are very likely to return on March 26th for the Tennent’s Premiership semi-final. The club is putting on a supporter’s bus so hopefully a big support heads west for the eagerly anticipated re- match, a match we are quietly confident of winning.
I would like to wish all our international players a successful weekend, a huge challenge awaits with the unbeaten French team arriving at Murrayfield. Also, a big weekend for the Scotland ladies team in their World Cup qualifier against Colombia, good luck to all especially Lisa, Lana, Hoggy, Darcy and Rhys.
Our next home game is the Force game against Musselburgh on March 12th followed by our Border league game against Gala on March 19th, when hopefully a hospitality will be possible.
Enjoy the game.
