Hawick RFC President Neil Hamilton and his Vice President Ian Landles finally managed to catch up with our very own Teri Scottish rugby star Lisa Thomson on Tuesday, to make a long overdue presentation from the Greens, in recognition of Lisa’s inclusion in the Great Britain ladies 7’s squad for the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
With Lisa being heavily involved in the GB squad’s preparation prior to the Games, and then straight into International and Club rugby duties on her return from Japan, she has proved as elusive to catch up with, to make this presentation, as she is on the rugby field!
Neil & Ian were also able to congratulate Lisa, on the Scotland Ladies team’s wonderful achievement in qualifying for the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand……and they asked if she would be kind enough to pass on the very best wishes from all at Mansfield Park to the squad, which of course includes another Teri in Lana Skeldon. Both Lisa and Lana were very much to the fore during the final qualifiers, with hard fought victory’s over Spain 22-27, and Ireland 18-20, both these matches being played in Italy last September, and then both scoring in the clinical 52-3 victory over Columbia in Dubai last month, which sealed qualification for the World Cup. The tournament in New Zealand kicks of on October 8th this year, with Scotland’s opening match against Wales the following day.
Lisa’s presentation consisted of a silver stylised rugby ball necklace, and a beautiful piece of Hawick made knitwear.
