Welcome everyone to Mansfield Park for our last Tennent’s Premiership home game of the season when we are hoping to continue our impressive home form. I am particularly delighted to welcome Aberdeen President Gordon Thomson together with Aberdeen committee, supporters, coaches and players. Aberdeen have had a tough season with injuries and player unavailability but l am sure they will provide us with stuffy opposition this afternoon.
Our last couple of results away to Jedforest and home to Musselburgh have been very
encouraging resulting in a play -off spot with the semi – final due to be on 26 March. At the moment the opposition and venue are still to be confirmed.
Last Saturday Scotland secured an exciting and famous victory over England in an entertaining end to end game which was in the balance until the final whistle. Our Hawick contingent Stuart, Rory and Darcy all having very impressive games. Hopefully the success will continue this afternoon against Wales, never an easy fixture, especially after Wales having an opening day defeat.
The club is also honoured and proud to have Rhys Tait leading the Scotland U20s this season, a richly deserved honour for a very promising player with a big future in the game.
Today we are again playing for the Bill McLaren Shield. This always adds special importance to matches at Mansfield.
As ever be kind to match officials and be courteous to those around you.
Enjoy the match.
Neil Hamilton
Hawick President
